SAN ANTONIO -- New details just in on the H1N1 vaccine.
Another batch of the vaccine is expected to arrive in San Antonio by the end of the week. Metro Health is confirming we are getting 29,000 more H1N1 vaccines here. But this is still not enough to do any type of mass vaccination in our local schools or through big clinics like we've seen in other cities.
The vaccine will be split between 250 providers. You can expect a lot of the vaccine will head to local clinics, hospitals, doctors' offices, and some pharmacies. Keep in mind, health officials want to vaccinate those of you in the high-risk groups first. That includes, healthcare workers, pregnant women, children under the age of five and anyone with underlying health issues.
Also, some good H1N1 news to report. Texas MedClinic confirms they've seen a steady decline in the number of people coming in with flu-like symptoms. Metro Health is reporting they have also seen the same at local hospitals and doctors' offices.
However, even with the lower numbers, they are still expecting to see a spike of the seasonal flu coming in late November or early December.
Health officials still suggest you continue to check in with clinics, doctors' offices and pharmacies around town to see if any seasonal flu vaccines are available.
We found out only some Walgreens here in town still have the seasonal flu shot, but it's going quickly.
