Cathy Cardenas wins Jefferson Award for helping homeless teen moms and military wives.
Cardenas runs Design Hometending, a company she started six years ago to turn vacant houses that are up for sale into real, lived-in homes.
As her business has grown, Cathy decided to "pay it forward" with makeovers. On Valentine's day she organizes a day of pampering, shopping, hair, make-up, and a special night out for military wives. And around Mother's Day this year, she helped out Seton Home, a shelter for homeless teen girls and their children, by making over their living areas.
