SAN ANTONIO - A disturbing video has been posted on the internet that shows a Planned Parenthood employee giving advice to a man who claims to be a pimp. In the video the woman offers advice on how to skirt the system and get abortions for his underage workers.
Protestors outraged over the video rallied outside Planned Parenthood on the Northwest Side. Protestors say they want what they believe really goes on in Planned Parenthood Clinics to be revealed and remembered.
Aside from supportive honks from cars, today's protest was quiet and peaceful. Some 150 demonstrators lined up in front of an abortion clinic on Babcock. Partly because of the clinic's free Valentine's Day condom giveaway, but more importantly because of an undercover video released by the organization “Live Action.Org.” It showed a pimp with underage prostitutes looking for abortion services.
The clinic worker is seen telling them, "You get so many parents - and I mean, like - you understand where they're coming from, but it's like, ‘Okay, she's a minor.’ Ok, yeah, so? Exactly, it's like you know she's still entitled to care without mom knowing what the hell is going on."
That employee was fired. But the pro-life group says the conversation is stomach-turning, and they're asking for government funding to stop.
Amy Voorhees with San Antonio Coalition For Life says, "They're miss-using the funds they've been given. It's time to tell Congress ‘no more.’ There are better places to give our money."
They say $360 Million dollars went to Planned Parenthood last year. A local Planned Parenthood spokesperson says that conversation inside the New Jersey clinic broke all guidelines and was wrong, but says the whole thing was a trap.
Planned Parenthood spokesperson Yvonne Gutierrez, told us," (it's ) just an effort by a sting organization to deconstruct this very, very important work."
She also says the flagrant disregard of guidelines similar to the video doesn't go on here.
But those on the street say their impact hurts people.
Cathy Kerr, who has had an abortion says, "It affected my family negatively - my marriage, my children in many, many ways."
Local pro-life groups say similar demonstrations are scheduled for the "40 Days For Life" campaign kickoff set for March.
