SAN ANTONIO -- Manu Ginobli's now world-famous altercation with a bat flying through the AT&T center has many of you asking “Just how much contact with a bat do you need to have to require several series of rabies shots for a month?”

Experts at the San Antonio Zoo say not all bats have rabies but many do and they live with it.

Steve McCusker, the director at the zoo, says rabies is typically passed through a bat bite. But even if you just touch them, you are still at risk.

“Many of them -- if you can get that close so you can touch, grab or catch -- are sick already," McCusker says.

He also adds that it's not unusual that a bat was flying through the AT&T Center because of our nearby bat caves. If you see a bat you should just sweep them to a place where it can fly away.
