SAN ANTONIO - Do you like metal? Maybe you’re a fan of hardcore or some regular rock? This week on the Garage, we had a band that can satisfy folks who like all of those genres.

Arisen is a Christian metal core band that formed last summer when bass player Cameron Huser and lead guitarist Jonathan Norris, who are long time friends, decided to come together and make some tunes. The two later acquired Alejandro Guerra as a drummer, Anthony Ibarra for rhythm guitar, and Jeremy Landry as their permanent vocalist/screamer.

Four of the band members, Huser, Norris, Guerra, and Landry are in high school. Ibarra is a freshman at UT. But don’t fret fans, these guys won’t be separating anytime soon. Almost all of them will be attending college in San Antonio.

At such a young age, Arisen sounds way beyond their years and takes some of their inspiration from "As I Lay Dying," another famous Christian metal group. If you also enjoy listening to Killswitch Engage and Demon Hunter, then you will definitely like banging your head to Arisen.

The band got the idea for their name from scripture, specifically "1 Corinthians 15:12-22," the passage when Jesus rose from the dead.

Arisen has band members from Seguin, Schertz, Cleveland, and San Antonio, but are technically based out of New Braunfels. That is where they have played the majority of their shows. During one performance at Harmony Sweet in New Braunfels, they drew in about 100 people. Arisen has also played at the White Rabbit and Backstage Live in San Antonio and have more upcoming shows in San Antonio and in Austin.

On April 7th, they will be performing at the AT&T Center after the San Antonio Rampage hockey game alongside Adrenaline Mob. And on May 12th, Arisen’s debut CD “Broken” will be released. But you can purchase “Broken” at their April 7th show before the release date.

Arisen has a chance to play on Warped Tour this year if they get enough votes from the public. Vote for them HERE. You can also listen to another song on the website they didn’t perform on the Garage called “Into the Light.”

The band will be touring all across Texas this summer and said they are really excited.

Catch them on Facebook and at their Reverb Nation page.
