By Michael Botsford, host of The GarageSAN ANTONIO – This week the WOAI.com Garage went on a field trip! We were there as The Bright Light Social Hour rocked the 502 Bar. Is it rock ‘n roll? Is it disco? Maybe the blues? You be the judge.
Click here to watch…Sure, they’re from Austin, but we’ll forgive them for that. AJ and Jack were nice enough to spend a little time telling us what they’ve been up to and what they have planned for the future.
“We go all around the country. New York, Toronto – we’re gonna be in Mexico City next month - and the word travels fast. It’s been great,” bassist Jack O'Brien explained. “But it’s all about right here in Texas - right here where we’re from. We just want to get to the people that are nearby us. Those are the people that really, really care, so it’s been a blast!”
And the crowd gets into it!
“You just have to let it all out there,” said keyboardist A.J. Vincent. “As soon as you – on stage – let it go, everybody in the crowd, in turn, wants to let it go. It’s a very, very contagious experience.”
The band swept the 29th Annual Austin Music Awards during SXSW 2011 with an unprecedented six wins, including Band of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year ("Detroit").
