SAN ANTONIO - Featuring members of New Disaster and Born to Lose, Nowherebound is an acoustic project based out of Austin. They were nice enough to drive south down I-35 for a stop at the WOAI.com Garage. Click here to watch…
Imagine some friends with guitars getting together for a few drinks. That’s the whole concept behind this rag-tag band of musicians.
“I'm used to just having a microphone and a beer, so a guitar in my hand and having to remember it all... makes it a little easier to go through I guess,” explains lead vocalist Christopher Klinck. “We don't keep journals, diaries or have money for shrinks, so this kinda serves the same purpose I think.”
Twinges of punk, country, and folk -- all thrown together at a moment's notice over a few beers and too much coffee.
“I've heard it described as like the recovery Sunday after the Saturday night at the punk rock show,” is how Natchet Taylor explains the music. “And that's what you play on the Sunday when you're trying to recover.”
These guys are actually heavy hitters from the old school punk scene. Klinck made his mark in the band Born to Lose and you can still catch Taylor playing with New Disaster.
The band actually has it roots in Born to Lose.
“We were writing music for an old Born to Lose record, and some of it just didn’t translate well,” explained Klinck. “So I just set in on the shelf for a while. After a year or so of just growing dust, Natch contacted me and asked if I needed a partner in crime.”
The inspiration is life.
“You have your happy adventures on the road, and then you come back home to a whole lot of train wrecks,” said Klinck. “There’s a whole lot of subject matter material to go through.”
If you’d like to watch Nowherebound live, wander they’ll be playing a benefit for an injured bike rider at the Elysium (Austin) on Thursday, November 29th.
