SAN ANTONIO -- Time is running out to apply for a voucher for those digital converter boxes and so is the money to pay for the discounts.
Right now, the government is inundated with those $40 coupon requests with more and more customers still wanting to apply.
Customers like Ursula Keogh who knows “I've heard that I’m gonna have to switch over in February and, it's my only TV. So, I’m gonna have to do it eventually, probably, sooner than later."
Once you apply for the voucher and receive it, you have 90 days to redeem it or your voucher will expire.
You can sign up at many H-E-Bs, electronics stores or even online. Once you apply it takes up to 5 weeks to get your coupon. That way, if you need it, your TV will be ready for the switch.
You don't need the coupon to buy the converter box, but it does give you a $40 discount on those boxes which can cost up to $100.
