Rants and Raves: Lack of Common Sense or Common Courtesy

Wow! It seems many of you have a lot to rant about. So as promised we can continue to let out our frustrations in this weeks installment of Rants and Raves. In case you missed it here are a few things that you complained about:

  • Breastfeeding in public, especially when the child is old enough to walk over, unbutton their mom’s shirt, and help themselves.

  • People who have too many kids that they cant afford

  • People who talk on their cell phones while in bathroom stalls
  • Texting and driving

  • People who are rude to workers in the service industry
  • Inconsiderate people at grocery stores

  • Radio DJ’s who think their opinion is the only opinion

What do you think about those rants? What has upset you this week?  For some reason I am not feeling negative today but I am sure some of you will post something to remind me of a few things that I find irritating that just did not come to mind.

Here are a few of my complaints:

  • People who refer to Obama by his middle name just to make him seem like some kind of Muslim extremist. It’s getting old. Tell me what you or your candidate can do to improve the economy or the lives of the American People in general. Stop being negative, it’s not productive.
  • People who have very small children that take the bus and they don’t meet them at the bus stop. We did a story this week investigating an elementary school dropping off children in front of a sex offender’s home.  Why does someone have to point this out to parents before they consider their child’s safety? I live very close to an elementary school and often see very young children walking alone. Why can’t their mom or dad walk with them? Is it because they are going home and no one will be there? Anything can happen in the short walk home.
  • People who lack common courtesy. One of my recurring pet peeves is when I hold the door open for someone and they just walk through and don’t say thank you.  If I’m pushing a stroller or have my hands full, and you are rude enough to walk right on through; know that I am cursing you in my head. I am not waiting for the opportunity to serve you.

Ok I have cleansed my mind of any negative thoughts. This is your chance to do the same.

News media (WOAI as well) that don't disclose ALL the parts of a story. Case in a point, a week or two ago a young man was suspended from school because he had a shotgun in his vehicle when he drove to school. They failed to disclose that he DID NOT park on school property so how did he violate the no firearms allowed on campus rule? Seems to me that any reliable news outfit would report all the facts of a news story, minus the political slant of their keepers.

Why is it, when I see a Democratic bumper sticker on a car, they is always an angry individual (as evidenced by the scowl on their face) behind the wheel? When I see Republican bumper sticker on a car the driver smiles, nods, or waves. Maybe it is because Republicans are right with God.

Okay Frankie1- It is the democrats that hump like rabbits. After all you believe in welfare. Those are the Wal Mart shoppers. You can find all the democrats at the register using the lonestar card.

As for Ebonics- If black people really want to teach this to their children, so be it. Ebonics will only set their race back. Why would anyone want to teach slang and poor grammar to their children?

I’m sick and tired of the bias media. They pretend to report on the presidential candidates when in reality they create the mood with their subliminal style and choice of words. They’re the ones that bring up race. They’re the ones that bring up a candidates wardrobe or glasses. They steer the public’s mood back and forth and tell us what should anger us and who to hate. I’m for John McCain but if they’re for Obama that’s their right. Just don’t turn the evening news into a propaganda campaign. I was listening to CNN the other night. The man speaking said “ This area of Florida is mostly black, so they’ll be voting for Obama. This part is largely military so they’ll back McCain and some won’t vote for Obama because of his race.” Why is it that when an Afro-American favors Obama because of his color that’s to be expected, but when a non black favors McCain, he’s a races. I know for many Afro-American it’s a matter of pride. But for some it is about color, and the media is so afraid to even admit that racism is not a one way street. My beef is not with people’s attitudes, it’s with the way the media spins stories to pit people against one another and pretend to simply be reporting the facts.
