Arts San Antonio will present Fabulous Family Fourth Concert and Fireworks at 8 p.m. at Sunken Garden Amphitheatre, 3875 N. St. Mary’s St. Members of the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra will perform. City of San Antonio holds its free Independence Day celebration, starting at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Lake Park. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate this national holiday in our own unique San Antonio way by dressing up in their finest patriotic costumes and participating in the popular Salute to the Red, White and Blue Parade, that kicks off about 11:00 a.m. Families who want to participate in the parade are asked to gather at the Woodlawn Lake Gym at the intersection of Cincinnati and Alexander at 10 a.m. Parade participants will be judged for best costume, most patriotic, best bike and best group. Everyone is invited to join in and winners will be announced on the main stage immediately following the parade.
This free event includes children’s activities, refreshments; the Freedom Day 4 Miler Walk and Run (begins at 8 a.m. and live entertainment. This is a family event, so there will be no alcoholic beverages served or allowed in Woodlawn Lake Park.
Neighborhood/Community EventsOlmos Park -8:45 a.m. at Alameda Circle. Activities will include refreshments, a parade, games and awards for best patriotic dress and decorations.
Monte Vista- 9 a.m. with participants lining up at Lynwood between Belknap and Howard. The parade ends at Landa Library, where following activities will include a picnic, songs and color guard.
Hollywood Park Homeowners Association-10 a.m. at the ball park on Mecca Drive. The parade ends at Voigt Park, where following activities will include a picnic, live music and games.
Alamo Heights-10 a.m. in the 900 block of Argyle. The parade ends at the diocese. Refreshments are served to the participants.
Terrell Hills- 10 a.m. with a parade beginning at Eldon and Ivy Road. The parade ends at Geneseo, where the event continues with music by Small World, food, games and children’s activities. Pet Express Mobile Vet will hand out dog treats to attending canines. Two honorary parade marshals ages 6-12 (one boy, one girl) will be chosen at random just before the parade. A parent may complete an entry form at 9:30 a.m. at Eldon and Ivy for free. Parade entries will be judged for prizes in various categories.
Northwood Presbyterian Church, 518 Pike Pl.-8 a.m.-3 p.m. in conjunction with the Oak Park-Northwood neighborhood July 4 parade. The event includes a silent auction and a quilt drawing. Proceeds will benefit the church.
Northridge Park Baptist Church-,hosts an actor posing as John Adams reading of the Declaration of Independence at 1 p.m. Attendees are welcome to dress in 1776 costume, bring flags and patriotic banners. Neighborhood residents are urged to walk to the event if possible. Some refreshments will be available.
