Discuss: Obama Birth Certificate Controversy

I have been reading for some time about Barack Hussein Obama's birth certificate controversy. At first I dismissed it because I thought there was no way the Democratic Party would allow someone who is not qualified to run for the office of President.

I now understand that at least half of the state attorney generals in the country will challenge Obama’s residency before certifying his nomination. Lawsuits will be filed to clarify Obama’s birth in the United States.

Until today I simply believed that Obama was born in Hawaii. After doing some research I found it is not so clear cut. Obama may have been born in Canada or even Kenya. The birth certificate he has provided as proof of live birth is flawed. The first one his election team provided had no certification seal. The second had the seal and fold marks.

There is also a “Barrack Hussein Mohamed Obama” born on 23 August 1961 in Canada -- which is where people are saying Obama was really born -- not Hawaii.

The Kenya rumor is one I cannot find anything on. At the time of Obama’s birth, his pregnant mother would have had a hard time getting all the immunizations needed to enter Kenya. So I don't believe this rumor is valid.

I do believe the Obama campaign may have a big  surprise come nomination day.

My question here in the "No Bull Zone" -- have any of you heard anything on this topic? As I have said, I am really not sure, but there is smoke surrounding this topic and the Obama campaign had been extremely secretive about this issue. Could he have been born in Canada? Is the Hawaii birth certificate real, even though but it has no seal or signature. What say you? I am on the fence on this one.

The issue is two fold. One is the certificate valid? No it is missing the ebossed seal. Second the file number is blacked out. This is more critical than the seal. The number referrs to the year, volume and page of the original documents. For example I was adopted, My North carolina birth certificate shows my adopted step dad's name and age at my birth. However the file number refers back to the adoption and the original birth certificate. In Obama's case if he was born out of country and his mother presented a child born out of county to a US citizen. Hawaii would issue a birth certificate reflecting this. the only way to know would be check with the records referenced by the blacked out file number. There is a case for him being born in Canada.

Canada or Kenya the issue is still the same. No ebossed seal and the file number is blacked out. I have a North carolina Birth certificate. It shows my mom and dad, ecept the dad is my adopted step dad not my biological father. The reference number referrs to the year and page of my adoption records and they reference back to my original birth records. So Barack could be born out of country and hawaii would issue a certificate for a child born to an american citizen out of country. The origignmal court house records need to be folowed up on to clarify this. It could be easily done from the file number. Oh that was blacked out.

Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1 No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

It is a fact that McCain was born in the Panama canal zone, and not in the United States. How does the law apply to his situation?

I'm not an Obama supporter, but these silly "rumors" are really annoying. They trivialize the real problems with Obama and make McCain supporters look like conspiracy kooks. I'd also really like to know who the mysterious source is claiming half the attorney generals are going to challenge it. A quick google search led me to quite a few legitimate and even right wing-run sites that refuted the birth certificate stuff. I'd much rather people spend their time and energy discussing the parallels between some of Obama's ideas for "change" and socialism or do a little research and see how he changes his position on the issues depending on who he's talking to. I laugh every time he says "I could not be more clear on this issue" since it usually comes after he answered the same question a different way the week before.
