Discuss: Is Sarah Palin More Qualified than Barack Obama?

With the Republican National Convention now going strong I want to start a blog on day to day thoughts on this convention. With the addition of Governor Sarah Palin to the ticket and her accepting the nomination tonight, what do you think? I believe that after Sarah Palin accepts the nomination and hits a home run, women will change their tune on this selection and ask themselves, “Hillary Who?”

In any case I believe that this is a historic convention. We have the possibility of having the first female vice president. This is a direct hit for Obama, who wouldn’t even consider Hillary Clinton for Democratic ticket. Liberal women have a choice to make. Will they continue supporting a party that disrespects a woman who garnered 18 million votes in the primaries and won every major state needed to win the general election?

This also sets up a possible female vs female election. Pending McCain’s win in November, Palin vs Clinton is a very real possibility in 2012 or 2016.

McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin was brilliant. McCain has proven to women he respects them and believes it’s time for women to be represented in our White House. That, my friend, is the real party of CHANGE - and that is the Republican Party. The Democratic Party has shown disrespect towards women and minorities. I don't know why you would stick around for that any longer.

The Republicans have appointed more women and minorities to positions of power in the last eight years than the Democrats have done in the history of this country. Do the names Powell and Rice ring a bell? How about Palin? History will be made in this election and it will not be the first bi-racial president elected. It will be a war hero becoming President of the United States and The Governor of Alaska who happens to be a woman becoming the first female vice president.

The first day of the convention went well. There was even a Democrat as one of the key speakers. This is significant because Joe Lieberman was the VP nominee for the Democratic party in 2000 for none other than for Mr. Al “Global Warming” Gore himself. He has decided to not vote the party line, but he’s decided to vote for the most qualified. The light resume of Barack Hussein Obama has made it apparent that John McCain is much more qualified. The more you compare the two, the more the distinction is made. Obama’s ties to convicted criminals and past cocaine use just make things worse for the liberal candidate.

Sarah Palin has been attacked on many different levels since her selection on Friday. She is more qualified to be President than Barry. She is a state governor. She has been a mayor of a town, She has deployed the Alaskan National Guard. Governor Palin’s son is a great American who will deploy to Iraq on September 11.

Obama can’t touch Palin’s experience and patriotism.

I hope the main stream media can stop beating up on women for awhile and start reporting the facts. The fact is the media can't elect a president. Only the American people can only do that.

Here in the "No Bull Zone" what do you think about the convention? The choice of Sarah Palin? How about the meltdown of the mainstream media on this issue?

I was watching MSNBC last night and Speaker Gingrich punked out an MSNBC reporter Ron Allen’s. Allen stated that Palin’s “resume is not something we're familiar seeing with presidential candidates.” Gingrich called Ron Allen’s question baloney, and then went on to say…

She has a stronger resume than Obama. She's been a real mayor, he hasn't. She has been a real governor, he hasn't. She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't. She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him, and then she beat a former Democratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write.

Allen was unable to defend Obama and ended the interview.

This is going to get very interesting and this is the discussion you don't need to hold back on. Just say it - no PC - and all I ask is that you be nice.

Palin did a great speech. She can connect with an audience. But she told me nothing of substance that makes me believe she's qualified for VP.

As a woman myself, I agree with what Palin said. that they are a normal american family with normal problems. If you want to down her because her 17 year old daughter is pg then you need to open your eye and look at about 1/3 of the american girls. And Palin is correct, at least her daughter has decided to have the baby. Morals have nothing to do with it. It appears that they have very good morals. As far as Palin's experience, I think her speech last night said a lot about her. I would follow a pit bull soccer mom into battle any day before a self rightous man that thinks he is better than normal people.

By the way, to justmyopinion, check out the story at http://www.adn.com/politics/story/476430.html which is a story in the Anchorage Daily News of 7/27/08 that explains quite a bit about the "troopergate" situation. My personal opinion is that the guy was in serious need of firing and his boss was remiss in not having done so. Also, it appears that the family and others had been communicating that to the official long before Ms. Palin ran for governor, and that some of those around Governor Palin were slow to realize that with her now in that position their communications about what was a serious problem with a state trooper needed to be handled differently. It was her responsibility to rein them in (Which she appears to have done.), but it was not her fault that they did it without her knowledge. Case closed for now, unless something negative now unknown comes to light in a properly conducted investigation. Also, keep in mind that she did not become the governor up there without ticking off the "good ol boys" in the state power structure and they have axes to grind and some strings left to pull. Be prepared to take some things with a pound or two of salt.

My wife (who does not care for politics) wanted to vote for her tonight. In fact my wife is making a Palin shirt for my daughter to wear at school tomorrow. If my wife hated politics and got this motivated... watch out! I hope everyone gets a chance to see it if they have not already. She did outstanding and gave hope and encouragement to all Americans no matter the party. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080904/D92VL6D00.html

Let's do some comparing. There were tons of blogs here that slammed Obama all through the democratic convention, so let's apply the same rules to the republican side here. Now for the record, I like this woman, and has gone a long way toward securing my vote for McCain. I am NOT an Obama supporter, but let's look realistically at things. 1) Obama admitted to doing coke and smoking marijuana earlier in life. Palin admited smoking marijuana as well. If that makes Obama a drug dealer, then it also makes Palin one as well. (Not my statement...rob, remember those remarks you made?) 2)Obama served on the board with Ayers, which makes him an unpatriotic terrorist. Palin is married to a person that was a member of a group that wanted to remove themselves from the United States. How unpatriotic is that, and she didn't serve on a board with him, she married him. 3) Experience. Obama has 17 months as a senator, Palin was mayor and governor in a state with less population that the city of Austin. At least Obama is in a state with some population, and has some level of experience at the federal level. 4) What litle experience she does have at the state level, she has already managed to find herself under criminal investigation for abuse of power. (Can't make a comparison there, Obama isn't under investigation for any criminal wrongdoing at the moment.) Now Rob, I know you will have a hard time understanding this, but as ridiculous as all this above is, if you apply the same rules to the republican party that you have the democratic party, then you get a woman who can't teach her daughter morals, that is an inexperienced dope smoking anti-American woman that abuses what power she has managed to aquire for persoal gain. Sad thing is, I like her much better than Obama, and not because she is good looking. I really think she has a better head on her shoulders that Obama. I am interested in finding out more on the abuse of power issue. That is the only sticky point in my opinion.
