comanchesue -- education is not enabling. two totally different concepts. teaching your children about RESPONSIBLE sexual activity is one thing.... telling them it is alright to do it at 12 is another...

Ester & yoyo2. I guess now you know that Abe Lincoln was not talking about that part of the male anatomy when he said "all men are created equal." LOL!

...and teach people how to spell abstinence!

Um, the Netherlands has a much more monolithic society than the US does. For any quoted statistic to be of any value as a metric it would have to be broken down by race. I submit that culture has much more effect in this instance than what is refereed to here as education. And telling 12 year olds who “do not understand the consequences of what they are doing” to use a rubber is not what I call values.

We should follow the Europeans lead in protecting our children by education. The teen pregnancy rate in the US is 72.2 per 1000 and in the Netherlands it is 11.8 per 1000. Protecting and educating our children is a fine example of good morals (not at all comparable to being a drunken sailor).

Congrats to the Swiss. I did a quick search and the teen pregnancy rate in the US is 72.2/1000 and only 11.8/1000 in the Netherlands. We should mirror the Europeans when it comes to protecting our children through education.
