SAN ANTONIO - I'm getting a lot of e-mails and feedback on Twitter over a photo of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker from a Halloween party obviously just having fun, but with toy guns pointed at someone dressed up as NBA referee Joey Crawford. There is also a noose hanging in the background.

It’s a story I’m sure the Spurs wish would go away.

After practice Thursday Tim Duncan addressed the issue.

“It’s this day in age,” Duncan told News 4 WOAI. “It was a Halloween party and a private atmosphere. It was just us having fun. There was nothing to it. But this day in age people want to blow things into something more than it is. So hopefully it’s gone.”

Crawford is the league's more controversial referee, and once ejected Duncan from a game while he was on the bench. The league suspended Crawford for the incident.

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili was at the party dressed as Zorro. He confirmed that Tim, Tony and the “Joey Crawford” costumed person were at the party.

“It was Halloween. If someone dressed as Pop was there, I could have done the same with my little sword,” said Ginobili. “Someone saw a great opportunity to see Tim and Tony in this situation, but it was very innocent. They were just probably kidding.”

Ginobili does not think the league will take any action.

“I’m not concerned. I don’t think it’s something to take serious,” said Ginobili. “It’s just an innocent joke.”

The photo is out of character for the usually buttoned-up Spurs and it's going to be interesting if the league takes it more seriously than that. The photo was first discussed on Reddit, but there’s no word on how the photo leaked online.

Tim also had some advice for everyone, “Try to take as little pictures as possible, people. Just for that exact reason.”

"I have no idea what you're talking about," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich when asked about the photo. "I hadn't seen it."

A noose? Would it still be okay if it were a couple white players and a black referee?

@WOAI- Don Harris needs to be replaced with someone who actually knows how to report on Sports.. this story shouldn't have surfaced on a San Antonio news site. You need to show where your loyalties lie before people start boycotting your station for posting propaganda against the Spurs..

C'mon people! It's a Halloween party! With it being a private party, I can only assume that everyone invited would know there's going to be some basketball players present. And a guy dressed up as this particular referee just happens to show up?! Right! It's a theme, and it's all in fun! Jesus! Whoever posted this photo should have their @$$ kicked. It's much ado about nothing....absolutely nothing more than guys having some (albeit stupid) fun! LET IT GO! Report some REAL news!

Much ado about nothing. It would be better to remove the fine and get rid of Stern and Crawford permanently. I am so tired of Them fixing games and pre-determining the championships. Coach POP has trained so many of the NBA coaches during his tenure and should be honored for that. Yes resting players is part of the game. Giving the bench more time and experience is part of coaching successes. Their record shows the value of that. We buy tickets to see wins, not so much to see losses due to tired or injured players.

let's see, from looking at the photo: no strippers, no booze, toy guns? Nothing compared to Chris Bosh premature-ejaculating champagne in the locker room after winning the championship.

man what bunch of party poopers on this thread. obviously photos taken from a Halloween party might be taken out of context if displayed 3 weeks before Christmas.

Let's see...You get paid MILLIONS to run up and down a court playing what essentially is "pick up" basketball, while the rest of us pay upwards of $75 for a ticket to watch it, $9 a beer, $20 for parking and Pop says they needed some rest??? You should be out on the court EVERY night (barring injuries)! No excuse... "I'm a millionaire basketball player I need my rest," give me a break. I will run up and down the a basketball court every day of the year if they were paying me $20 million a year! Now they get to act like thugs too and THAT'S OK as well?? Typical Spurs fans
