SAN ANTONIO - Hold onto your seat! It's time for the IPAC Ram Tailgate Talk. Let's talk some football with the new man in charge. The Incarnate Word Cardinals hired 67-year-old Larry Kennan a month ago, and I tell you what - they are lucky to have him. Kennan has been at every level in football: high school, college, and the pros for 45 years. He even won a super bowl with the Raiders back in the early 80s. Coach Kennan joined me in studio on Sports Sunday.
Click here to watch…Kennan has coaching experience with seven professional teams, six in the National Football League and one in the former World Football League. He has twice been a champion, once as quarterbacks coach with the Super Bowl winning Los Angeles Raiders and once as head coach of the London Monarchs of the WFL.
In the professional ranks, he has worked as an offensive coordinator, as quarterbacks coach, as a wide receivers coach and as a tight ends coach.
At the collegiate level he worked three years as head coach at Lamar University. He also has college experience as an offensive coordinator at SMU and Nevada-Las Vegas. He was also the tight ends coach at Colorado.
Most recently, and for the last 13 years, Kennan has been executive director of the NFL Coaches Association based in Washington, D.C. During those years he kept his hand in coaching by working with and training quarterbacks such as Drew Bledsoe and Jeff Hostetler. Along the way his quarterback client list has included Eli Manning, Tony Romo and Drew Brees.
