Emails between the San Antonio School District and Spurs Sports and Entertainment show a cozy relationship and plenty of backroom dealing that resulted in the controversial plan to renovate Alamo Stadium at taxpayer expense to include a pro soccer field.
As I first reported yesterday, the deal may be dead, but we're now learning a lot about the backroom dealing that lead up to it.
The exchanges show SSE wanted the track ripped out and to participate in the redesign of the stadium, despite public denials it was never tried to dictate the specific details of the proposed renovations.
The documents also reveal SAISD officials were eager to play along with the plan.
