If you are as appalled as many of us at the conduct of the HISD board members that caused Superintendent Jaklich to leave, sign this petition to demand that they resign. Don't take their incompetence lying down: http://www.change.org/petitions/jesse-jay-alaniz-velma-ybarra-joshua-j-cerna-resign-their-positions-on-the-harlandale-i-s-d-school-board

It is a shame that a Harlandale Board member (Alcoser) would post such unfounded and untrue statements. Alcoser, your bias towards women is showing in your petty, vindictive comments directed towards Mrs. Ybarra, who has earned her respect and has been in the trenches working and dedicating over 35 years to education and children. Show due respect for a woman who has dedicated her life to education. Alcoser, be the good representative that you claim to stand for and be mature. Do you feel such a distinct threat that you feel compelled to make such comments? If anything, let it also be known, that your words lack maturity and depth and do not reflect badly on anyone on the board but you. Anyone who knows Mrs. Ybarra knows that your comments are senseless, unfounded, vindictive, and completely untrue. You are so intolerant of a woman on the school board and this shows, and sends a negative message to the girls and young women of this district. Jaklich's positive contributions will always be appreciated. Jaklich is a man, and he resigned on his own accord. Simple as that. Alcoser, Why don't you be a man as well, respect that, and move forward instead of placing undue blame? You are a man after all aren't you?

As an educational professional within the Harlandale Independent School District, it is a continual source of embarrassment to see our district’s dirty laundry continually aired in media. Our focus should be on the best interest and highest level of instruction for our students, and not on personal agendas. Mr. Jaklich has elected to leave our district, and the Victoria ISD will now be the beneficiary of his many professional talents. Isn’t that what we want to instill in our own students? Success involves change, forward momentum, and a willingness to take risks in order to meet your full potential. Even in departure, Mr. Jaklich is a role model for the students of our district. It’s time to stop the accusations, racial overtones, lack of professionalism, and evaluate what each of us has to offer and refocus our effort on what is most important – the children of our district. Let’s get on the news for all the great things we do at Harlandale!

Ms.Lara, stop it. You only represent the opinion of a select group of individuals who care more about their architect than an award winning superintendant and fine human being. I only hope the voting public can read between the lines and help oust some of those individuals responsible for this discord. The spring of 2013 is closer than some of you think. Do not expect a free or easy ride this time.

Ms. Llara, thank you for being so involved with the Harlandale School District. I don't think i've become acquainted with yourself at any of the school board meetings. But it's nice to know you admire Mr. Alcoser's service to Harlandale as an upstanding Latino in our community. Regardless, Ms. Yybarra's dismal recommendation for Superintendent Jaklich is not a charge but a known fact. I suppose since you seem to be a very close fan of Ms. Yyabarra I would be interested to know why your friend gave a failing evaluation for Superintendent Jaklich. I think we all would. If not, I suppose you could ask one of her upstanding attorneys you speak of for the reason she did this. It seems like it would be a real crime to fail such a finee superintendent.

The Supt. of HISD did what many superintendents do: got his 3 years of experience, earned his doctorate on school leave time, and now he moves on to bigger pay. Alcozer, be mature and accepting. He resigned, no one asked him to leave He had just gotten a full extension to his contract by all 7 board members, so stop your whining; what is your motivation? Are you thinking about audit? About undue influence that will be cut? Excess to vendors? What is your motivation? If it were to be a good role model you would behave on district paid trips, respect our women, and be more professional. Remember you represent A&M and Harlandale. You can do better.

Mr. Alcozer, as a professional employee of Texas A&M University and an aspiring City Councilman, you should demonstrate more restraint with your charges. Everyone who has worked with Mrs. Velma Ybarra knows her to be a professional; she has helped thousands of kids throughout her career, of all ethnicities, types; she has never looked the other way to help a child. Mrs. Ybarra simply called for bilingualism as a desired work skill in the educational workplace in a district with almost 20% of students who are of limited English proficiency and for this you make your unfounded charges; how immature. As a representative of Texas A&M you should be professional; instead you always accuse Ms. Ybarra, chide her, and bully your way through by trying to discredit her. You have done this since she got on the board; you preferred a man there and she is the only woman so your bias is showing. She is going to stand up to your charges so be careful with a lawsuit sir.
