Doesn't City Public Service workers belong to a union? Why hasn't the union stepped in to collective bargain for the employees to receive some of that bonus? What does the SAWS CEO make? Pay the Workers that risk their lives dealing with our electricity! Use the funds to trim the trees in the lines, repair old transformers, etc... Heck every time there is storm in our city over half of the people lose their electricity...fix the infrastruture first!

Puro BS on the board, maybe the board needs to move along, I do know how to maintain a budget, I work the books for a large apartment complex BUT I think it's robbery for one man to take this much $$ when it takes a vilage to make it work, Is CPS giving the men and women who go outside and dig, climb, drive, walk in the heat a large increase as well or just a $0.25 increase?

nbsatx21. This person must be one of the leeches receiving part of the rate payers money from the political gravy train. You have to remember that Beneby's ONLY job is to find ways to squander OTHER PEOPLES money! With a half million dollar salary he still feels the need to "wine and dine" with MY money. Blood sucking leech!!

nbsatx21 Your main reason you that you gave that he deserve the bonus was that he balance his budgets. If he can balance budgets than he should not need to raise the rates with more on CPS customers. San Antonio has been growing well before he arrived in 2010. However, how is it fair that Doyle and the board get a 133% bonus, and everybody else gets a 2% bonus. In today world, people are lucky not to get laid off.

Gam99 I do know that rates are going up next year. Just like San Antonio is growing so is CPS Energy. Do you think all of these new neighborhoods and business going up in San Antonio will setup and maintain their own electricity. Rate increases are a common thing for a business that need to expand to keep up with growing cities. Their people work hard everyday to keep our lights on so they deservers to be compensated for their work. You have to think $16 million in bonuses spread throughout the entire company isnt a lot of money once it is all divided up. The media just tries to make it bad press and people like you fall for it. Who cares if a business is giving their employees bonuses, are you saying you would work for free and wouldnt require any compensation for the hard work you do everyday. Keep up the good work CPS Energy.

CPS IN NOT A CITY OWNED company it is a private company with one board member being the Mayor of the city.

I think Beneby is doing a great job running CPS Energy and he deserves the bonus that he is being rewarded. Everyone who thinks otherwise, probably cant even maintain a basic budget let alone try and run a utility company.

CEO Doyle Beneby is only doing what the corrupt leaders of San Antonio allow him to do. Every representative of this city, whether elected, appointed, or hired is on the take! The sad thing is, they no longer EVEN TRY to hide it! The "movers and shakers" that own our representatives laugh in the face of the lowly citizens that are nothing more than an income source for them to steal from. There is NO PERSON serving a PUBLICALLY owned utility that is worth half what Mr.Beneby and the rest of his cronies are draining from us ratepayers. Dissolve his position, dissolve the board, and let the rate paying CITIZENS run the company. Rates would be cut in half OVER NIGHT!

What really makes it bad is they bring in these people that they hire from outside San Antonio and Texas. FYI, Beneby, McAnus, Sculley.
