Melissa says it's a dream come true to be back home reporting the news in her own community. She grew up in Seguin and graduated from Seguin High School. Melissa was bitten by the journalism bug in high school and the rest is history.
Melissa went on to study journalism at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. She's a proud graduate of the Dan Rather School of Communications.
Melissa began her career in Corpus Christi working for KZTV-TV. There she worked as a reporter and was later promoted to main anchor. Melissa also worked as an main anchor for KGBT-TV in the Rio Grande Valley. Melissa's career also took a leap outside the Lone Star State. She worked at KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she focused on consumer and investigative reporting.
She is thrilled to be back at home and close to family and friends.
"There's no place I'd rather be," says Melissa.
Melissa is happy to donate her time to charity causes in the community. She's a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
When she's not chasing stories, Melissa is spending time with her husband Robert and their three rescue dogs.
