Janet loves her job because there is never a shortage of stories to tell. She says it’s a privilege to enter peoples’ lives, often during the best or worst times, so she’d love for you to share your stories with her. (WOAI.com)

Janet Kwak is proud to be the newest addition to the News 4 WOAI team and excited to call San Antonio her new home.

While preparing for a career in law, she was bitten by the news bug after an internship in the Bay area. She learned the ropes of the news business at several stations in Southern California before landing an on-air job for a cable station in Orange County. Her last stop was in Abilene, Texas, where she anchored the 5 o’clock news and reported daily, occasionally reporting for Telemundo. She has been recognized by the Texas Associated Press for her work.

Her most memorable story was about a judge accused of playing favorites – a story that taught her the ethics of journalism after being consistently pursued to reveal the source that tipped her off. The story helped push for a statewide shield law for all journalists in 2009.

Janet graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Political Science, Spanish Literature, and Mass Communications. Growing up, she has lived all over the world, from Seoul to Madrid. She is fluent in three languages.

When she’s not on the job, Janet is usually whipping up a storm in the kitchen, traveling, working out, reading up on the world or spending time with family and friends. She is also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.

Janet loves her job because there is never a shortage of stories to tell. She says it’s a privilege to enter people's lives, often during the best or worst times, so she’d love for you to share your stories with her.
