Maclovio Perez is the morning weathercaster for News 4, and can be heard every weekday morning on San Antonio's First News on News Radio 1200 WOAI.

His friends call him Mac but he has always kept the name that his father gave him, Maclovio Jr.

Mac is a native of the Rio Grande Valley and is as comfortable on a tractor as he is in the weather center.

He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor in Journalism. While in Austin he began his broadcasting career in radio at KTBC-AM.

Upon graduating, he began his meteorology training at Texas A&M College Station. While in college he was hired to begin weather duties here at News 4 WOAI. Maclovio has continued his studies in weather and is about to complete his course work as a "Certified Consulting Meteorologist” at Mississippi State University.

After 4 successful years in San Antonio he was recruited by CBS for weather duties at their flagship station in Los Angeles. Maclovio was a household name in Los Angeles for over 15 years. Working with some of the top news talent in the country, including Connie Chung, Paula Zahn, Ann Curry and Brent Musberger.

Professionally, Maclovio has racked up a wall full of awards and trophies. He was first to institute a time-lapse camera for San Antonio weather. He was a pioneer in introducing computer animations into TV weather in Los Angeles. He was awarded a "Special Service" award for innovative smog reporting in Southern California. Perez has received several "Emmy Awards" for his work in "Regularly Scheduled Newscasts" and "Special Weather Coverage". He also received several Emmy Awards for his work as producer and host of a children's game show KID QUIZ, which aired for 8 years in Los Angeles.

Mac was an Associate Professor of Communications at Cal State University-Northridge where he inspired many of his students to enter the communications field.

Maclovio has always been known for his commitment to the community. From the earliest days he spend many hours speaking and encouraging students at schools, from elementary to college. Among his many service awards are: The Silver Beaver from the Boy Scouts of American "for a lifetime of service to America's youth"... Outstanding Achievement from NOSOTROS, an award presented by actor Ricardo Montalban. He was inducted into the LULAC Hispanic Hall of Fame.

Maclovio is happy to be back home in South Texas, he considers San Antonio his "spiritual home". It was here that he developed his love for Texas history and has researched the contributions of the early Tejanos to the cause of Texas Independence.

Maclovio is married to his high school sweetheart, Frances. They have four children, Maclovio III, Sonia, Carlos and Lorenzo.
