Leila Walsh came to News 4 WOAI because of the station’s reputation for investigating, uncovering, and problem-solving. She enjoys digging for stories and asking tough questions -- the ones that matter to you.

Leila joined the News 4 WOAI team in July of 2005 after spending seven years in Syracuse, New York. Most recently, she was a general assignment reporter for WSYR-TV. She also spent two years as the morning anchor for sister station, NewsRadio 570 WSYR.

While in Central New York, Leila was recognized for her reporting on overtime practices at Syracuse City Hall. The stories prompted city-wide policy changes. She feels that perhaps the most rewarding part of her job is helping people when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.

In 2003, hundreds of laid-off factory workers were at risk of losing retraining benefits promised to them by the state and federal governments. After Leila stepped up to question the governor and other elected leaders, the benefits were secured and the workers were able to return to school.

Leila got her start in television at WUTR-TV in Utica, New York where she worked as an anchor/reporter. She has also worked at radio stations in Albany, New York and Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Originally from New England, Leila graduated cum laude from Syracuse University with a double major in political science and broadcast journalism.
