A true South Texas native, Kristina De Leon was born in San Antonio. After graduating from MacArthur High School, she double-majored in Psychology and Sociology at the University Of The Incarnate Word.
Kristina began her on-air career in Laredo at KVTV. She spent nearly three years as the weekend, then noon show anchor. There, she covered the drug cartel, immigration issues, and often reported from across the border.
Kristina spent nearly five years as the morning show anchor/reporter for KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. During that period, she stood on the front lines of three major hurricanes. Before moving back home to San Antonio, Kristina spent a year in the Valley at KGBT-TV as a reporter, producer, and anchor.
The Emmy-nominated morning reporter was honored by the San Antonio Police Department and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office with merit awards. She was also recognized by the SA Crime Coalition and is a graduate of the FBI Citizen’s Academy.
Kristina is also a featured alumni in the
University of the Incarnate Word’s campaign.
When her ailing mother was in need, Kristina donated a kidney. The procedures were documented as a feature
series on News 4.
Currently, Kristina is enrolled in grad school, earning a Masters degree in Communications from the University of the Incarnate Word. You can watch Kristina weekday mornings as either a reporter or Fill In Anchor for the show.
