StormTracker 4 Chief Meteorologist Jennifer Broome joined the News 4 WOAI in June of 2000. Watch her weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. Her forecasts can also be heard weekdays on KJ 97, Mix 96.1, and Soft Rock 101.9.

“Forecasting and covering weather in South Central Texas rivals any other weather hotspot in the country,” Jennifer explains. “My most memorable weather moment in San Antonio is covering a ‘100-year flood’ during the first week of July 2002.”

Jennifer has been through all sorts of weather from ice storms to hurricanes, including reporting live in Hurricane Katrina.

She has a B.S. in Geoscience with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.  Jennifer also graduated cum laude from the South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Journalism.

Jennifer loves spending time in the community, especially talking to kids. She visits schools across the region to educate children about weather.  She is involved in numerous charitable and civic organizations including The Junior League of San Antonio, Cancer Center Council, Witte Society, San Antonio affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and fitness events such as the MS 150 Bike to the Beach.

Jennifer's first weather love is tropical weather. She has covered Hurricanes Bertha, Fran, Lili and Katrina.  Prior to working at News 4 WOAI, Jennifer worked at WPDE in Myrtle Beach, SC and WBIR in Knoxville, TN.  In Myrtle Beach Jennifer won the Governor's Award for Excellence for her weekly segment called "Golden Life."  The Knoxville Metro Pulse named Jennifer “Best TV Weather Anchor.”

Jennifer also does a weekly feature called "Jen's Kids." This segment spotlights children waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister. "Jen's Kids" is a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Jennifer is happy to be a Texas transplant.  Jennifer has a 10-pound Pek-a-poo dog named Peeka. Her weather pooch is famous for his tricks including sneezing on command!

Jennifer is a certified aerobics instructor, a runner and cyclist, and loves the outdoors. Jennifer has done such things as completing two marathons and sky diving with the Army's Golden Knights. She even pulled 9 G’s twice flying with the Air Force Thunderbirds and even hit 9.3 G’s! The pilot had only pulled 9.4 G’s!
