Bob Gambert, a.k.a. CyberBob, is Web Director for woai.com. He feeds and waters this website. He also
blogs.
Bob is a native of Richfield, Ohio -- located between Cleveland and Akron. After attending Revere High School, Bob joined the Air Force. He attended basic training right here in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base. From there, it was on to Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois for weather school. CyberBob then spent the next 10½ years traveling the world, providing weather forecasts for flight crews. His stops include England, Turkey, Germany, and many locations across the United States and the world.
If you've ever stopped by a weather station, one of the first things you'll notice is a VERY large number of computers. Bob realized that if he was ever going to get anywhere as a weatherman, he better figure out how all this technology worked. This learning process turned into a hobby, and then a moonlighting job designing webpages.
Bob's last stop in the military - just like his first - was here in San Antonio, but this time at Kelly Air Force Base. While still stationed at Kelly, Bob started an internship at News 4 WOAI producing the weather. The internship turned into a full-time position not only producing the weather, but also designing and maintaining the station's webpage. As the Internet exploded, Bob's focus changed from weather to the web. Now he spends all his time maintaining the website and reporting on computer issues.
Bob and his wife, Rhoda, have three daughters - Chelsea, Ashley, and Rowdy Riley Rose.
Bob's brother Rich plays in a band called "Vinegar." His other brother, Matt, plays golf or something.
