Who makes the best menudo?

New Year's Day is approaching, and that means it'll be time to pull your chair up to the table for a nice hot bowl of menudo.

The traditional Mexican soup includes a red chili base, lime, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro and is popular because it's believed to be good for hangovers.

We want to know who you think makes the best menudo in San Antonio. Email your nomination to BestOfSA@woaitv.com. We'll reveal the final four on Friday and the voting will begin. We'll then let you know the winner next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

I'm just now realizing that quite a few comments on this story have disappeared, and I have to wonder why someone's comment on a good tamale can be so offensive as to disappear. Oh well, there are some of us so unpopular that it doesn't really matter what we say, many of our comments disappear.

The true ones that have served are called silent warriors. They do not boast about serving. The best tamales are the ones that do not come in pretty packaging.

Goas. I remember as a kid my mom would go and get them and when I was aboard ship I couldn't wait to get home on leave and get some. They are awesome!

Donoho, I grew up in South Texas, and I know what good food is. I used to get tamales from different people that knew how to make them. Me, being the pork loving infidel that I am, I have to have pork tamales. With plenty of grease and chilipitins. I agree with you, HEB comes closer to making the tamales like I grew up on , than anybody I know of anymore. I've tried the chicken, venison, and all the other BS, and thats what it is, BS. Whoever makes HEB pork tamales, knows what they are doing. POOR, POOR, POOR, POOR, POOR, POOR, GRANOLA MUNCHERS.

Tamales…they’re not just for breakfast anymore! I buy HEB tamales all year long (personally prefer the pork/jalapeno) but at Christmas, just for the sheer volume, I order 10-12 dozen from Delicious. For all the self-righteous pseudo health nuts blogging in, get over yourselves! Back when I was a 19 year old stick, I ate six tamales for afternoon break every weekday. At 5’8” and 110lbs, not even the health nuts would have considered me overweight. Just because you like, and eat tamales does not mean that you do NOT like or eat fruit salad or soup. Tamales do not make you fat. A lack of self-control and over indulgence makes you fat. I have to say, @AFRetired, that I will NOT eat tofu or veggie burgers so I feel your pain. I’ll eat my veggies (tomato, lettuce, onion) fresh, thick sliced, and on a ground sirloin (beef or buffalo!) patty with some sharp cheddar and crisp bacon…but eat it with a knife and fork, hold the bun, please. As usual, @Lervia, you are right on, girl! I made chili last Sunday, and we’ve got left-overs for dinner tonight. Umm, umm! Good eats! P.S. There is no “bad” meat. P.P.S. Yes, Tellez rocks, too!
