“Taco Taco” has the best breakfast tacos in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – You voted and we counted. We've got the results of the best taco in San Antonio. It's all part of our Best of San Antonio series.

We received dozens of nominations and then narrowed it down to the top four...

Taco Haven, 3119 South Gevers Street (map)
Las Chiladas, 2387 Northwest Military Highway (map)
Taco Taco, 145 E Hildebrand Ave (map)
Rolando's, 919 W Hildebrand Ave (map)

Then you had the chance to vote here on WOAI.com for the number one favorite.

The winner of our inaugural Best of San Antonio series is Taco Taco, at the corner of Hildebrand and McCullough, just north of Downtown.

Things got a little emotional over at Taco Taco when we walked in with our camera.

“Thank you WOAI. We love you!” said Helen Velesiotis, the owner of Taco Taco.

She tells me a lot of love is what makes her tacos the best.

“I love San Antonio! Thank you San Antonio for everything you've given me. Thank you WOAI, you're the best,” said Helen.
We asked you to nominate your favorite place to get a breakfast taco – and boy did you ever respond! We have been overwhelmed with hundred of nominations.

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT TACO PLACE ACROSS THE STREET FROM RIVER CITY PRODUCE, GOOD TACOS GOOD PRICE GOOD SERVICE I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND I BEEN TO TACO HEVEN ON GEVERS TO SMALL

Come to think of it, the owner of Taco Taco must have a little pull because I was told about a year ago that I HAD to go try this place so I did, really BIG dissapointment, food is not that good folks. I GUARANTEE Las Carretas or Sonias will beat them hands down!

There are TWO mexican restaurants by my work which deserve the title, Las Carretas on perrin beitel and Sonias on Nacogdoches, both have incredible tacos and extraordinary lunches!!!

I've been to taco taco before, it's okay but not the best. Anyone who lives in San Antonio knows you find the best taco houses on the westside and southside, maybe most of the people that voted haven't experienced true San Antonio tacos and for them this is the best, I challenge people to try Mary Lou's on Pleasanton Rd and then comment it wasn't the best they've ever had.

After reading this article this past Monday and because they were right down the street from us, we went to Taco Haven and tried their carne guisada and country/egg tacos. The people there are extremely friendly--saying, "Good Morning" with a smile on their faces to everyone who walked in the door! I was not only impressed with the personable service, I was also very pleased with the quality and flavor of their tacos! They definitely had my vote to win this contest! Even though they placed 2nd (?), I still think they are up there at the top! I'll have to try the winner's tacos next and do a comparison.

Taco Taco should not be listed at all. I was there on Monday 28 and order the carne guisada Taco, no taste and service was no bueno...Maybe is under new management and the original quality is no longer the standard. To sad we used to eat there at least once a week..

Guest, the contest is for the BEST breakfast taco, not the best LAME breakfast taco.
