SAN ANTONIO - News 4 WOAI will bring you live coverage of Celebrate San Antonio, the city's New Year's Eve party Downtown. There will be surprise acts and live music performances, including one from a band that you have voted as the Best of SA.

That's our Best of SA winners, Scuba Jive! You voted them the best band in San Antonio.

The band members go to St. Mary's Hall and Alamo Heights. They say they're excited to be a part of the Celebrate San Antonio show, but, boy, are they modest about their talent.

“I feel kinda bad. I mean, there's a lot of really good music in San Antonio and we wanted to be a part of it and have playing in the show, but ‘Best Band’ there's tons of good music,” said Scuba Jive’s Hiatt Becker.

Better get used to the attention, Scuba Jive!

About Celebrate San Antonio

The San Antonio Parks Foundation, along with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, produces the annual New Year’s Eve event, Celebrate San Antonio. This free event features something for everyone including music on four stages and special entertainment areas for children and families. Celebrate San Antonio attracts approximately 250,000+ people to the downtown area. Most hotels report sellouts and local restaurants are at capacity during New Year’s Eve, thanks to the event and its popularity. The San Antonio Parks Foundation is proud to be able to contribute to the San Antonio economy by hosting this event for locals and out of town holiday visitors.

A survey by Priceline.com ranked downtown San Antonio in the top 50 New Year’s Eve destinations at number 34, between Sydney, Australia and downtown Los Angeles. The San Antonio Parks Foundation views this ranking as a milestone for the City of San Antonio and for Celebrate San Antonio. There is no other New Year’s Eve event of this size, with fireworks, and offered free to the public in the state of Texas.

With live music, hundreds of thousands of excited revelers, fireworks and entertainment for the entire family on tap during Celebrate San Antonio, this event grows in popularity each year. The huge downtown fiesta begins at 6 p.m. on S. Alamo Street between Market and Durango and throughout historic La Villita. Admission is free and open to the public and festivities continue until 12:30 a.m. The highlight is the countdown to midnight and the spectacular Fireworks Extravaganza showcasing the Tower of the Americas.

COLAO is by far the Best Band...those guys do everything! Rock, Latin, Funk, Jazz, Salsa, Top 40...The night I heard them they covered Drake and Maroon 5 but in Salsa. Its like 4 or 5 guys but they sound huge. They play at Rosarios evry Friday.

I caught The Statesboro Revue at Sam's Burger Joint after Thanksgiving - awesome band...original material. I envision seeing them on Leno or Letterman soon.
