Kinda funny that the winners of almost all of these "best of" contests are so far away from choices of commenters on here.

Hmmmm.....refried black beans, sauteed shrimp (cut into half or thirds, depending on the size of the shrimp)and seasoned with red pepper flakes, salt & pepper & maybe a touch of lemon juice or zest, a sprinkling of pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and guacomole, all on a crispy blue corn tortilla. Now, I would actually add a touch of fresh garlic to the shrimp when sauteing it, but that's just me. And, I do agree with you on this, twister2....a future contest should be on the best guacomole!!!

@Butterfly, in my personal opinion, stick close to the basics: refried beans, cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes and guacamole. I happen to like baked tostada shells and refried black beans. Adding fish, chicken, or shrimp doesn't add as much as guacamole. Maybe the next contest should be for the best guacamole.

@Seeker1970, the first making of a bad chalupa would be a greasy, soggy tortilla!!! And, if any one or more of the toppings is too greasy or juicy, or just plain bad or off, that would lend itself to making a bad chalupa. Now, I'd like to hear what are the best toppings for making a wonderful chalupa. I'd also like to hear some different ideas for a different taste experience.
