SAN ANTONIO -- As with any coaching job, a good boys basketball coach has to throw in some counseling, some drill sergeant techniques, and some motivational speeches.

But studies show guys prefer external motivators, like winning and accolades, and tend to place the knowledge and skills of a coach at the top of their 'more important' list.

From lay ups and footwork, to trust, teamwork, and WINNING, it's up to the coach to show the players how it's done. We asked you to tell us who you think is the best boys basketball coach in San Antonio, and your top four nominees were:

Charlie Boggess (#antonian)
Antonian High School

Rudy Bernal (#lanier)
Lanier High School

John Valenzuela (#sacs)
San Antonio Christian

John Seaton (#hustlers)
San Antonio Hustlers (AAU)

AND THE WINNER IS...
COACH JOHN SEATON.

Congratulations to Coach Seaton and to all of the coaches who were nominated. You are truly an inspiration.

What's the best SA Stock Show & Rodeo Event?

Now, it's time to put on your cowboy hat, pull on your cowboy jeans and your prized cowboy boots, and get yourself ready to rodeo. That's right, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo starts February 7th and runs through February 24th.

To celebrate the event, we're doin' somethin' a bit different for this week's Best of SA. We want to know which San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo event you think is the best.

Some people can't get enough of all of the attractions, like the petting zoo and the Swifty Swine Sprints. For others, nothing beats the different horse show competitions, like barrel racing and the Horse Skillathon, OR the livestock show, when you find out who who takes the big prize and gets top dollar for their animal. And for some, nothing compares to the rodeo events, like barrel racing, steer wrestling, and bull riding.

What's your favorite rodeo event? Email your nomination to BestOfSA@woaitv.com.

I agree with cbtxlnghrn. AAU, Public School & Private School Coaches should not be mixed up or in the same category. Not to diminish any accomplishments of Coach Seaton, but AAU Coaches are allowed to recruit players without restriction. Granted only the best coaches might be able to recruit the best players in the area, but if you allowed Coach Bernal or any public school coach to recruit the area and bring in the talent and pieces they need, much like the pros & these AAU coaches are allowed to, you would see certain dynasties with certain Public School coaches, especially the ones in the more affluent areas of town. While Coach Boggess & Coach Valenzuela coach at private schools and can recruit, they are bound by academic standards of their respective schools, regardless of the athlete's athletic abilities. You are comparing Apples to Oranges to Grapes. As a public school coach, I find this "Best of San Antonio" award bogus & disgusting.

you guys can not be serious by nominating a aau or recreation coach as the best boys coach in San Antonio? High school and AAU are seperate and should never be mixed up. This is a sad day for SA basketball
