SAN ANTONIO -- The Easter egg hunt is a beloved tradition that dates back centuries.
According to
History.com, the legend of the Easter Bunny and the Easter egg hunt came to the U.S. back in the 17th century, when children of German immigrants would make nests in gardens in anticipation of an egg-laying hare called "Osterhase" or "Oschter Haws" paying them a visit and laying its colored eggs.
Whether you like the more traditional hard-boiled and dyed variety or a plastic egg filled with chocolate, an Easter egg hunt is just about irresistible for children (and parents and grandparents who love to watch the kids 'go on the hunt').
