SAN ANTONIO - It's the Best of SA! We are constantly searching for everything from the best hamburger to the best principal. It's always a popular contest, but this week's competition exploded. We went 'Friday Night Fever' this week in search of the best high school cheer team. Votes were in the six figures – totaling 817,141 to be exact.

So which squad is at the top of the pyramid? Churchill’s 311,303 votes were enough to edge out Madison, Marshall and Brennan.

Lots of cheers were coming from the spirit room of the Churchill Chargers when we dropped by to present the award. They now hold the record for the most votes cast in any of our ‘Best Of SA’ categories.

Madison was hanging tough until the end with a total of 293,421 votes. They closed to within a few hundred votes on Tuesday, but Churchill had a late voting rally to win it.

Excited about the big win, the Churchill cheer squad says all the credit goes to its supporters.

“Churchill wants to thank our community, all the faculty, friends, family, and people who have supported us. It was incredible! Thank you,” said head cheerleader Carina Garza.

“This year at camp our freshman received first place. Our JV and varsity squads got second place. And we received the prestigious award of having the camp vote for us to be the squad that they would like to join. That was the one that meant the most to us this year,” explained cheer coach Ashley Brooks.

How often do they practice?

“Five days a week – sometimes six,” said Brooks.

Congratulations Churchill! You’ve earned it.

Who is the best high school football coach in San Antonio?

In Texas there just aren’t too many people with the power of a high school football coach. Sure, the head coach must know the intricacies of his team. But with the help of coordinators, he’s also ultimately responsible for the offense, the defense and the play and conduct of his team. The job doesn’t end when the team leaves the field. One of the most difficult issues is dealing with is the parents and boosters. He must deftly handle any issues with the way that he runs the program. In addition, a high school's head football coach often serves as his school's Athletic Coordinator or Director, which adds even further responsibilities to his job. In most Texas high schools, the head coach must also have a paying job within the school, almost always as a teacher.

So who’s your pick as the best high school football coach in San Antonio? Send your nominations to…

I have nothing against churchill cheerleaders, but where were they when Churchill played Madison in the rain. The Madison cheerleaders and dancers came back to cheer their team on to victory in the rain. And Churchill stayed home ...... just saying.... GO MADISON CHEER....

The Lord God has given us clothes and He expects us to wear them. It is just a disgrace that these youth are allowed to prance around and dance around in little more than their birthday suits. Surely, this must anger the Lord. He has made clear directions in the scriptures regarding dress. "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety..." -1 Timothy 2:9. There is nothing more likely to inflame the Lord that boldly sinning right in front of everyone. The schools, which are in the hands of Satan, allow this kind of debauchery, but it is these youth who must either resist the urgings of the Devil or join him in the Lake of Fire. Let us pray that they will find redemption through Jesus. It's that or Hell. Don't go there; it's too hot.

Why don't you show a picture of one of the four top squads? Would that make too much sense?

It takes a long time for Jesus to come again. But it is written on the last page of the Holy Bible that he surely will. Sorry, I just looked it up. It says that he will come quickly. I was wrong, and I apologize. This is why we must study the Holy Bible over and over, until we get it right.

If Jesus Christ were to come today people would not even crucify him. They would ask him to vote for the best cheerleading squad in San Antonio, and hear what he has to say, and make fun of it.
