The best fried chicken in San Antonio goes to a restaurant better known for its beef: Bill Miller Bar-B-Q.

The chief operating officer says they are very thankful to fans who logged onto WOAI.com and voted for them. He's been with the restaurant for 32-years and says they've never deviated from the fried chicken recipe.

Bill Miller’s opened in 1953, but didn't add fried chicken to its menu until the early sixties.

SAN ANTONIO – With these 100-plus degree summertime temperatures, sometimes you just want something light for lunch. But you still want some choices. That’s the perfect time for a trip to the salad bar.

That raises the question: What makes for a good salad bar?

Should it include baked potatoes? Soup choices? Is variety the key? Or does it just have to look good – clean and fresh?

“No wilted lettuce!” demands one News 4 WOAI employee who refuses to go on the record.

So that’s our quest this week. Go out there and do some research. Sample as many salad bars and you can and nominate your favorite. Email your choice for best salad bar in San Antonio to…

bestofsa@woaitv.com

On Friday our accounting team will count up all the nominations, and put the top four up for a vote.

Fried anything causes cancer. I believe in cancer as a cure for medicare and health costs in general. Life has a way of saying it is time to die, and when it is your time, that is when Jesus embraces the cross. He died for us, and we must die for him in accordance to the law of life. All these medical principles are sacrilege.

spursfan210 - I feel that way about Church's. Their pieces are really out of whack to the point I can't tell which is which! If the Bill Miller's you are going to is like that, try the one on Walzem. That's where I get mine!

Yup! Just had Bill Miller's chicken tonight. I like KFC coleslaw with it. Fortunately they are side by side. The pieces are that of a regular chicken, not one on steroids. I'll take them over any of the usual suspects. The chicken is better and costs less than KFC, Church's and even Bush's. As a matter of fact I tried Bush's one time and the chicken was dry and tasteless and most of the time you have to get chicken fingers. Yuck! msjackie274, you failed to tell how many gallons of tea you have to drink with those 8 pieces!

Bill Miller??? Are you people crazy? Everything on the menu has shrunk over the years. Poorboy plus used to be alot bigger, now bread is smaller. The fries are soggy, and portion is too. I am out on that. Nothing like tea with a hint of metal.

Aw, shucks! Church’s is my very favorite fried chicken in San Antonio or anywhere else. I remember more than 60 years ago, when GW “Bill” Church had his first fried chicken stand across from The Alamo. My daddy bought it and brought it home in the summer, after we visited The Alamo with family from out of town. Later, Mr. Church had several other locations in San Antonio and it was one of the very first “fast food” places in the country. I still love their original recipe, but I guess I’m out numbered.

You can't even tell sometimes what exactly what your recieving when you order chicken from Bill Millers. Also they don't even specialize in fried chicken. Bush's Chicken's pieces are huge! They have friendly service, and they have an amazingly quick drive through. Also there are a hand full of locations here in San Antonio versus a Bill Miller at every corner. Bush's Chicken is the best by far! I eat at their SW Military location three times a week and will continue to do so.

Just like when I worked for Whataburger, Bill Miller has people repeatedly voting for it!
