SAN ANTONIO -- Every week, we pick an item in our series the Best of SA and you decide who is the best.

This week, you told us who you think makes the best sandwich in San Antonio. And the winner is...Hearthstone Bakery Café. Hearthstone Café beat out three other nominees: Zito's Deli, Which Wich, and Uptown Deli.

"I want to thank all the voters who voted for us and the loyal following we have," said owner Jason Yandeberg.

Hearthstone Bakery Cafe has two locations: McCullough Avenue and in The Forum.

Customers say the sandwich to try is Hearthstone's Turkey Artichoke Panini.

You've got to be kidding! We must have been there on their worst night because we got crappy, barely filled sandwiches, mostly bread that was hard as a rock, that had generic meat, really poor service from some stupid, rude kid and a soda-fountain drink that tasted like they hadn't changed or even cleaned their lines EVER. I KNOW there are better places than this and I KNOW we won't be back EVER.

Stopped by first time on Monday after reading reviews We ordered 3 Things Meatball,Jason's club and turkey artichoke Meatball was just ok not enough sauce was kind of dry bread was good. Club was yummy but way to small says large croissant but nope small. Turkey artichoke was also just ok looked good but small . Overall they are overpriced for the small portions you do get wont be going back.

The difference between a good sandwich and some sort of slab of meat on a piece of dried up bread depends on the sauce, whether or not they use mayonnaise or salad dressing or just mustard for poor people. Most people that go to church on a regular basis use mayonnaise, except for the Episcopalians. They use garlic, as required by their religion, as they fear vampires. A good Mexican will use salad dressing on the torta. Mustard is used by the poor people as a spice.

Congratulations Hearhstone...I've never had a sandwhich I did not like at this place. Also, their salads are great and a hearty portion for the price....you will not go hungry.

Congratulations to Hearthstone! Jason and his staff do an excellent job. Some clarification, Hearthstone is not a chain restaurant, but a concept started by Jason himself in Live Oak's Forum and continuing in his latest venture on McCullough in Olmos Park. Well deserved and very delicious!!!

They do have really good food. It's right next door to a good Christian Bookstore. The only problem is that what was voted the best sandwich in San Antonio is NOT in San Antonio. Hearthstone is in Live Oak, which is entirely another city. The place voted to have the best pizza in San Antonio was also NOT in San Antonio.
