San Antonio picked Janie's Pie Factory.
“It's so fantastic! Thank you very much. I'm excited and very proud. A big thanks to everyone who voted for us,” said owner Janie Bailey. “I’m very excited and a little bit stressed – as you can probably imagine. It’s a little bit crazy in here this time of year.”
That’s right. It is definitely pie season. Janie and her staff are make pies continually, and have orders going into next week. So how many pies do they make a week?
“Oh gosh. This time of year? I don’t know. It could be a thousand!” said Bailey.
63-year-old Janie Bailey makes every pie from scratch.
“We make everything fresh, so you got to peel those apples before you can make that apple pie,” explained Bailey. “A lot of labor goes into it – the rolling of the dough. We make that here, too.”
For the past fifteen years, Janie's Pie Factory has been located in the Carousel Court at Richmond Oaks on Nacogdoches Road. Bailey has been making pies for over 20 years.
“It’s a time to be thankful,” said Bailey. “And I truly am.”
