SAN ANTONIO - Want a treat to help keep you cool? In an effort to beat the heat, we decided to find the best ice cream in San Antonio. Your nominations poured in, and after adding up all the nominations and conducting extensive research (taste tests rule!), we narrowed it down to the top four…
Amy’s Ice Creams (Quarry Market)
Baskin-Robbins (Multiple Locations)
Brindles Awesome Ice Creams (11255 Huebner Rd)
Cold Stone Creamery (Multiple Locations)
We tallied up your votes, and Brindles Awesome Ice Creams was chosen as San Antonio’s favorite. It was extremely close! Just one vote was the margin that put Brindles on top. Amy’s was second.
James Whitson is the owner of Brindles. He’s also a Marine who just got back from Iraq.
“We owe this all to our voters,” said Whitson. “Thank you San Antonio! You made it happen for us.”
Brindles is know for their ever-changing, creative flavors.
“Right now we have about 320 different flavors. We sell 48 at one time,” said Whitson. “Some of our new stuff is bacon-walnut – we came out with it before Denny’s did.”
Whitson says his personal favorite is Azteca
“That is definitely really good. It’s just like Mexican hot chocolate,” said Whitson.
Brindles is located on just off I-10 on Huebner in The Strand.
