While surfing around the net looking for interesting new Texas music, I stumbled upon a young lady named Carissa Amberly. A quick listen to the music on her MySpace page proves she’s far beyond her age musically. Carissa’s style and sound have a place in the popular country music culture. She’s far more talented than most of the young artists that annoyingly hit the charts.
At just 16-years-old, this Longview singer is pursuing her dream to be a country music entertainer. Her accomplishments show that she’s well on her way.
Carissa won the 2006 Texas Country Music Hall Of Fame Talent Show in Carthage, Texas. Part of winning included the privilege of performing on many shows in Branson such as Mickey Gilley's, Jim Stafford's, Jim Owen's, Hamner Barber's and Doug Gabriel's. She was also able to take a trip to Nashville in 2007 and sing in The Jeannie Seely Show and The Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree.
In 2006 she sang for President Bush and 10,000 others at a Rally in Sugarland, Texas.
Carissa expects 2008 to be a great year and so far has been a nominee for many awards this year at the Texas Music Awards. She’s been nominated for: Female Vocalist of the Year, and Record of the Year - 'Some Heroes Don't Come Back.’
“There are many great singers and entertainers in this competition,” she explains. “It would be such a thrill and honor just to win one.”
She attributes her success to Bill Mack, 'The XM Satellite Cowboy.' After hearing Carissa’s CD, he started playing her music on XM Satellite 171, 'Open Road' program.
“My song, ‘Some Heroes Don't Come Back' has received tremendous response on XM Satellite from not only truckers, but firefighters and soldiers as well,” said Carissa.
If you get a chance, check out her music. I’m sure that - like me – you’ll like what you hear...
