Take care of your parents and save money with a room addition

As our parents or in-laws begin to age, in many cases “assisted living” provided them with a great opportunity to maintain independence, however with the sky rocketing cost of assisted living communities of $3000 to $8000 per MONTH or more, many people are looking for alternatives.

That alternative is having Lone Star Contractors add on a Master Suite and taking your parents out of the assisted living community. Within 1 – 2 years, this addition can pay for itself. Not only will you have peace of mind that your parents are well cared for, but this addition will add a tremendous value at the time you decide to sell.

Now, this does not replace the nursing care that may be needed and in that case, this may not be the way to go, but for many people in assisted living facilities who just need a safe place to stay, this is exactly what they need. A place of their own attached to your home. This is important because the parent feels like they are not a burden to their children.

Basic Additions from $45K (About 300 Square Feet)

· Bedroom

· Walk-in closet

· Nice bathroom with “walk in shower”, vanity & commode

· Shared HVAC unit from the main home

· In some cases their own access door outside the house (to a patio) and of course into the house.

Larger additions that are big enough for:

· Large bedroom

· Small living with chair to view TV

· Small Dining area (Dinette Table)

· Small kitchenette (Microwave, Sink, Small Fridge)

· Large walk-in closet

· Nice bathroom with “walk in shower”, vanity & commode

· Its own HVAC unit

· In some cases their own access door outside the house (to a patio) and of course into the house.

· This is important because the parent feels like they are not a burden to their children.

Starting at about $75K – But each case is different

THE BENEFITS:

A $60K – $100K additions can pay for itself in 12 – 24 months depending on how much you are paying right now for assisted living.

The cost did not get spent on a “Assisted Living Community” it turned into equity in your home.

If you plan to sell the home after this addition, chances are there is a number of other families looking for a home with two masters for potentially an aging parent of their own. So the home becomes more marketable.
