Texas lawmakers are filing bills to eliminate the twice-a-year chore of spring-forward, fall-back. State Sen. Paul Bettencourt, a Houston Republican, filed a bill Friday to adopt daylight saving time year-round. That plan would require approval from D-C, since federal law says states can only change to standard time, not daylight saving time. Last month, state Rep. Glenn Rogers, a Republican who represents several north Texas counties, filed a bill to let Texans vote on whether to permanently adopt daylight saving time or standard time.
