SAFD Adds More Crews On Hot Days To Enhance Crew Rotation

The San Antonio Fire Department is increasing the number of crews that respond to incidents on hot days. Public Information Officer Joe Arrington says the idea is to rotate crews faster in order to prevent heat-related illnesses. Arrington says crews typically rotate every 30-minutes on average, but on days when it's 90-degrees or more, the rotation is every 15-minutes. The more frequent rotations allow firefighters to recover longer before going back to work
