A Netherlands-based chipmaker is considering a nearly three-billion-dollar expansion in Austin that could create up to 800 jobs. A firm representing NXP Semiconductors made a presentation on Tuesday night to the Austin ISD board, seeking tax breaks as an incentive. The company already has a chip fabrication plant and other facilities in Austin, with about 13-hundred employees. NXP says it expects to select a site this year, begin construction in 2024, and start operations in 2026.
