Soldier, Former Federal Employee Admit To Stealing Military Equipment

Federal officials are reporting that a soldier and a former federal employee at Camp Mabry in Austin admit they stole and illegally sold more than a million-dollars' worth of military equipment.

The suspects, 27-year-old Texas National Guardsman Cristal Avila of Fort Worth, and 35-year-old Joseph Mora of Schertz, each pleaded guilty Thursday to a count of theft of government property.

Mora is a former program analyst at a government property warehouse. Avila and Mora admit to stealing large amounts of military grade equipment. Mora later sold the stolen goods on eBay and other web sites.
