Anti-Police Activists Grumble Over Increase In SAPD Budget

The first draft of San Antonio's budget for fiscal year 2021 proposes more funding for the police, much to the annoyance of anti-police activists. City staff presented a budget proposal of nearly three-billion-dollars to City Council on Thursday.

There were spending cuts to deal with the pandemic, but a proposed increase of more than $8 million for the San Antonio Police Department. Police reform activists who have been demanding that the police be defunded are vocal in their disappointment with the proposal.
