UTSA Announces Layoffs

More than 200 positions are being eliminated at UTSA as the university looks at more than a $35 million revenue shortfall for the next fiscal year.

The university says the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial impact on UTSA necessitates budgeted expense reductions across every area of the university, which include some reductions to the university workforce.

In an official release, President Taylor Eighmy said that their workforce of 2,650 staff is eliminating 243 positions. This included 176 management, administrative and other professional positions, and 67 skilled labor positions. Additionally, 137 vacant positions were eliminated.
