Schlitterbahn's New Ownership Spends Millions On Upgrades

Schlitterbahn

Schlitterbahn has a new look this year, thanks to an outlay of cash by its new owners. Ohio-based Cedar Fair Entertainment bought both the New Braunfels and Galveston water parks last summer and is spending up to 20-million-dollars on the two locations over the next few years. Schlitterbahn's 2020 season started last Saturday. There aren't any new rides this year, but Cedar Fair has carried out upgrades and renovations including resurfacing and repainting.

According to a news release:

"Schlitterbahn is excited to release the 2020 operating calendar. Both parks plan to open in early spring just in time for guests to enjoy their spring break at Schlitterbahn. Gates open for the Spring season starting on Saturday, February 29th in Galveston and Saturday, March 7th in New Braunfels. Spring Break partial park operating schedules vary by park with New Braunfels open March 7th – 15th, 21st and 22nd, whereas, Galveston will be open for two weeks from March 7th through 22nd in an effort to accommodate the varying Texas school schedules. Galveston remains open on the weekends throughout the Spring while New Braunfels reopens for weekends starting April 11th (parks are also open on April 10th for Good Friday). Full park weekend operations begin on April 25th with partial park dates remaining in New Braunfels only on April 26th and May 3rd. The full 2020 operating schedule is available online at schitterbahn.com."
