Police: Customer Tazed Armed Robber Without Effect Before Shooting Him

Police confirmed today that a customer at a northwest side food market tazed an armed robber before shooting and killing him, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Two customers were in inside the convenience store on Culebra just inside Loop 1604 during the incident last night.

Police say they are examining video surveillance to see if any more clues can be found.

The initial police report says the male gunman was a customer in the store when a suspect wearing mask walked and and announced a robbery.

The report says it was at that point that the customer tazed the suspect, but he got back up and retrieved his gun, pointing it at the customer

It was at that point that a second witness shot the suspect, killing him with one shot

The suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead,

The fact that the witness tazed the suspect is expected to help prosecutors decide not to file charges in the case, since he can show that first attempted to use non violent methods to stop the gunman, and only resorted to lethal force when other methods didn't work.
