Man Gets Life In Prison For Killing UTSA Student

Legal office of lawyers, justice and law concept : Wooden judge gavel or a wood hammer and a soundboard used by a judge person on a desk in a courtroom with a blurred brass scale of justice behind.

A man is going to be spending the rest of his life in prison for killing a UTSA student. A Bexar County jury handed down the sentence today for Miguel Martinez. He was convicted on Friday for shooting Laura Carter to death in 2015 while she was sitting in her car. They were apparently going to be involved in a drug scheme. It was the second time Martinez was tried in the case after a previous one ended in mistrial in 2017. Bexar County prosecutors were not involved in this trial because DA Joe Gonzales had previously represented Martinez.
